The AJ-HDP2000 2K Processor adds real-time 4:4:4 1920 x 1080 and 2048 (2K) x 1080 recording to existing D-5 HD VTRs for high quality mastering, interchange, screening and archiving applications. Designed to work as a real-time "parallel" to digital intermediate (DI) workflows, the AJ-HDP2000 processor utilizes JPEG2000 wavelet-based compression, the same compression scheme specified by the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI). The 2K workflow in a typical DI environment is usually handled as DPX files and the work is accomplished on large network systems (SAN). However, ingest and export of 2K content can be a tedious and time-consuming process (longer than real-time), requiring the use of numerous IEEE 1394/Firewire drives or LTO tapes.
Unlike DPX/SAN, the DI D5/2K workflow provides real-time record, play and editing capability, and fast access to 2K content for screening and portability for interchange. As such, this parallel workflow saves time for your facility, which translates into greater profitability. The D5/2K combination compliments existing facility HD-SDI infrastructure and maintains the same record time and functionality as D5 machines (155 minutes at 24fps HD/2K modes).
